There is someone you remind me of if my memory serves me well a child I knew so many years ago though lately it’s harder to tell Every prayer with your name on my lips offered up so faithfully I question where they all came to land were they just whispered in futility? You shined so bright in your youthful age free of worries free of cares but now I weep for the choices you made and the cross that you have to bear It’s the memories I want the former glories I’ve stored away as I’m unwilling to confront the man that you’ve become today It’s the victories I hold the triumphs of another time everything that I can still control and live out safely in my mind There are moments when you let me see a glimpse of what we were a shared laugh or a stroke of your hand perhaps a delicately chosen word now the faces smiling back at me in a faded photograph look unfamiliar to the discerning eyes of this outsider looking back The beaming faces of a bride and groom since eclipsed by life’s demands now world weary and grasping to cling to what they once held in their hands See it’s the memories I want the former glories I’ve stored away as I’m unwilling to confront the people we’ve become today It’s the victories I hold the triumphs of another time everything that I can still control and live out safely in my mind How you savor who you were back then So vibrant in your prime It all seemed to come so naturally now it’s just face lifts and hair dyes You’re not too proud to admit you loved that constant chorus of the camera’s flash your face on the cover of the magazines men lining up for your autograph now it’s hard to find an honest man who will take you as you are a woman who can no longer rely upon her looks to take her so far it’s the innocence of youth that fountain that never runs dry though it tells only half the truth while we let life just pass us by sometimes it’s just the memories we want the former glories we’ve stored away when we’re unwilling to confront the people we’ve become today it’s the victories we hold the triumphs of another time everything that we can still control and live out safely in our minds everything that we can still control and live out safely in our minds

Come to Me 04:44
Woman I never wanted it to end like this Having to leave you without a kiss You left me waiting when I needed you the most Now you’re far away and I’m just living with your ghost And so I say Come to me come quickly, I haven’t got much time Come to me come quickly though you’re not still mine Come to me come quickly I haven’t got much time Come to me come quickly so we can say goodbye So we can say goodbye Woman my feelings for you still haven’t changed Even though our lives have been rearranged I never thought we’d go this way Don’t you know that I still had so much left to say And so I say Come to me come quickly, I haven’t got much time Come to me come quickly though you’re not still mine Come to me come quickly I haven’t got much time Come to me come quickly so we can say goodbye So we can say goodbye Woman you were the first And how I wanted you to be the last But I can’t change what’s already passed I’ve accepted that we ended long ago Yet I’m still holding on to something I can’t let go There’s a shadow hanging over us Although it’s far from view There is sinking sand below us We’re sinking me and you Come to me come quickly, I haven’t got much time Come to me come quickly though you’re not still mine Come to me come quickly Come to me come quickly We never said goodbye. No we never said goodbye. We never said goodbye.

I find that love is like the great sea looks so pretty from afar but when consumed by its mighty waves there’s no return once you’ve embarked you can struggle just to breathe feel you are drowning underneath like you can’t see any light up above like you’re face to face with some kind of beast but love is like a gentle breeze that comes and redirects the tide and it can be a sturdy anchor that keeps you on the path that’s right it can carry you so far along and raise you to the heights Oh Woman won’t you carry me along with you I find that love is like a tunnel you never know what lies ahead when wandering lost within its maze unsure where you’re being led You may fear what you may find and stumble as you take each step often doubting whether you should continue forward or turn back But love is like a candle shining in the distance bright bringing warmth and giving guidance as you move closer to its light it will lead your steps so well if you keep it in sight Oh Woman help me keep my sight on you I find that love is like a bitter war two sides on the attack well you may forget what you’re fighting for but neither one pulls back and the recollections of what you did the things you said, the things you've seen stay with you till this very day leave you aching from the sting But love is for the wounded warriors a healing balm that soothes it’s refreshing peace amid the dissonance for the broken and the bruised it’s the humble surrender when there is nothing left to lose Oh Woman help me surrender myself to you Love’s not merely what you feel inside it’s the grit and determination it’s the showing up when you just wanna hide it’s no light hearted invitation no love’s not merely what you feel inside it’s the promises so hard to keep it’s the daily will to abide the treading water when it gets too deep we sow these seeds today that tomorrow we will reap Oh Woman won’t you carry me along with you Oh Woman help me keep my sight on you Oh Woman help me surrender myself to you

Remember how we once held those words Seldom spoken cautiously reserved Shared only with a chosen few, they were Unsurpassed in their magnitude When those words we first confessed To one another so effortlessly and sweet While valuing their power and weight And all that they anticipate Then proclaimed before a crowd Standing before one another so proud I said I love you as a solemn vow To look beyond the here and the now To commit myself to you And every day my promise renew I said I love you as a solemn vow For as long as time will allow To lose a little of myself for you To leave what’s behind to enter into When I said I love you as a solemn vow Later as the shine begins to fade We doubt the wisdom of the choice we made When nothing seems to come easily A greater purpose hard to see When our patience is wearing down The road ahead overcast with clouds When we resemble actors in a play Repeating lines we are only expected to say When the words are hard to find And only whispered like a sigh I say I love you as a prayer To summon strength when it’s not fully there To point to what lies out of my reach To call for aid in my time of need I say I love you as a prayer When living feels just like gasping for air When my heart is cold and my will is weak And I cannot own these words I speak I say I love you as a prayer And some days you will need to hear it more To hear it as you did long before today To be reminded of what still remains To hold onto when everything is changing So when you see a stranger in my eyes A foreigner you do not recognize When you waver in your trust in me When you see me as an enemy I ask that you bring to mind The man you’ve known for all this time When I say I love you as an affirmation In the uncertainty a confirmation To testify to what is true To bring myself back to you I say I love you as an affirmation To give our memories validation To show you where we once began To reassure you where we still stand I say I love you as an affirmation

about

Nathan’s 2017 debut EP Someone You Remind Me Of is a small collection of songs about some of our closest relationships, including friendship, marriage, and family. These are songs about people looking back at what they have lost and struggling to hold on to what they have. While these songs speak of challenges and disappointments, there are also moments of hope and comfort. He hopes that listeners will find something that they can connect with in his songs- something that makes them think, something that brings back a memory, something that makes them smile.
